AGILE METHODOLOGIES TAKE OFF IN 2005

Hurst, the first recruitment consultancy in the UK to provide a specialist agile development recruitment service, has revealed that the methodology is increasing in popularity and adoption.

Until late 2004 agile development methodologies would only be found in isolated teams in large corporate environments, or in small independent software houses that are not afraid to experiment with new techniques. Early adoption of the methodology was led by specialist technology consultancies, which became practitioners and advocates of agile methodologies. Premium priced consultants were supplied to clients to facilitate implementation of the new practices in small teams. As these teams realise and promote the benefits of the approach, combined with the natural movement of experienced agile consultants and developers in the market, it is becoming more widely used in other environments. What's more, organisations that started out with small agile development teams are now utilising the methodology across other teams and departments.

Hurst has been an active member of the agile community since early 2004 and, with the escalated awareness and popularity of the methodology, the company now provides an enablement service. As part of the service, consultants can propose and implement methodologies that fit with the client's environment and existing processes. Coaches and mentors will then help development teams embrace agile methods, ensuring improvements in productivity, morale and team spirit.

HURST GETS EXTREME IN AGILE COMMUNITY

Hurst steps-up its involvement in the agile community by becoming a corporate member of the international Agile Alliance ( agilealliance.org). The Agile Alliance is a non-profit organisation that supports individuals and organisations that use agile approaches to develop software. Hurst's association with the organisation means it can extend its community participation into the international arena.

Hurst has been an active member of the agile community since early 2004 when it became the first resource management consultancy in the UK to launch a specialist Agile Development Recruitment Service. Hurst is well regarded within the community for its ability to source exceptional agile candidates and accurately match them to employers needs.
